Nick Shevelyov is an executive leader with 25 years on the front lines of cybersecurity, information technology, data privacy, and risk management across multiple industries. He built his early career around technology risk management with roles at both a boutique security technology consulting firm and at Deloitte as part of the Enterprise Risk Services Group where he led cyber security and data privacy projects for global technology and financial services firms.
In 2007 he became the first Chief Security and Privacy Officer for Silicon Valley Bank (SVB)—one of the fastest growing banks in the US—where he helped to build a global cybersecurity and data privacy program. In 2018 he stepped into the Chief Information Officer role at SVB leading a team of more than 500 professionals to modernize technology and adopt Agile CI/CD delivery, DevSecOps disciplines and public cloud for production.
Nick currently provides specialized cybersecurity consulting and advisory services to a broad range of clients—from industry-disrupting startups to Fortune 500 global companies—and works as a fractional Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for leading security firms. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area CSO Council and The Boris and Vera Bogart Foundation, an organization focused on making a positive influence in the lives of underserved youth.
He is the author of Cyber War…and Peace: Building Digital Trust Today with History as our Guide and a frequent guest speaker at conferences, seminars and corporate events. Nick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, a Master of Business Administration for Executives (MBAE) and CISSP, CISM, and CIPP industry certifications.
